What are problems with Biomass Energy Systems?

Paper pulping mills are 60% self sufficient, sugarcane mills are 100% self sufficient, timber industries use wood waste furnaces, however only a small percentage of available biomass is currently used. Handling costs,problems with clean combustion, complex conversion process, low energy values,low biomass availability, cheap availability of fossil fuels are the problems. These problems will be elaborated upon further.
